LONDON: Tottenham defender Eric Dier has denied allegations by his manager Jose Mourinho that he is having problems with confidence.
Dier was blamed for a number of goals conceded by Tottenham in five defeats from six Premier League games.
Tottenham’s declining performance caused their hopes of finishing in the top four to fade and pressure returned to Mourinho.
Mourinho claimed Dier had seen his confidence decline during the defeat, but the England defense denied the allegations.
“In terms of confidence I don’t feel like I’m in a bad place all season.
“I went through a difficult period where my confidence was very low in the past, so I know how it feels.
“I don’t feel it this season. The most important thing is that people’s realities and views can be different from the real situation.
“I am happy with my level of play for most of the season. There has been a decline and it has to do with the team as well as the performance as a whole.
“I do not feel my confidence is as negative as before,” Dier said.
