MADRID: Real Madrid suffered the most shocking defeat in the Spanish King’s Cup when the defending champions were eliminated by third division club Alcoyano.
Alcoyano beat Zinedine Zidane’s side 2-1 and saw their players thrown off the field in injury time.
Zidane included Eden Hazard, Karim Benzema and Toni Kroos as substitutes, while Alcoyano Ramon Lopez was sent off in the 109th minute for fouling Casemiro.
Alcoyano made a surprise with Juanan blasting the winning goal over Madrid which continued to show a decline in performance.
After losing to Athletic Bilbao in the Spanish Super Cup semi-final last week, Madrid were humiliated by the Alcoyano dwarf club.
With just one win in the last five games, this embarrassing defeat will definitely put more pressure on Zidane.
